Du’ā #1 · The Fasting Person
The Du’ā’ of the Fasting Person
دُعَاءُ الصَّائِم
The one who fasts holds a special rank with Allah. At the moment of breaking the fast, a door of acceptance swings wide open — a sacred window when no sincere supplication is turned away.
Always Accepted
دُعَاءُ الصَّائِمِ حَتَّى يُفْطِرَ
“The supplication of the fasting person until he breaks his fast.”
✦ Wisdom & Reflection
Fasting is an act of complete surrender — the believer withholds food, drink, and desire for the sake of Allah alone. This sacrifice creates a spiritual elevation that makes the heart tender and the du’ā’ weightless enough to ascend directly. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that the du’ā’ of the fasting person is never blocked. At ifrār (breaking fast), make du’ā’ before you eat — this is the golden moment.
💡 How to Act on This
Right before you say “Bismillah” and break your fast each evening — pause. Close your eyes. Ask Allah for what weighs on your heart. Ask for forgiveness, for the wellbeing of your loved ones, for guidance. This moment is yours. Use it.

Du’ā #2 · The Oppressed
The Du’ā’ of the Oppressed
دُعَاءُ الْمَظْلُوم
When a person is wronged and has no worldly recourse, they possess a weapon mightier than any army — the du’ā’ of the mazlūm (oppressed). Allah Himself declares it will not be veiled.
Reaches the Throne
دُعَاءُ الْمَظْلُومِ وَإِنْ كَانَ فَاجِرًا فَإِنَّ فُجُورَهُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ
“The supplication of the oppressed — even if he is a sinner, for his sin is upon himself.”
✦ Wisdom & Reflection
The Prophet ﷺ told Mu’ādh ibn Jabal (رضي الله عنه): “Beware the du’ā’ of the oppressed, for there is no screen between it and Allah.” This du’ā’ transcends even the person’s own spiritual state — it is the pure cry of injustice that Allah answers out of His perfect justice. Be careful never to oppress another, for their du’ā’ against you travels faster than you can imagine.
💡 Two Lessons Here
If you are oppressed: raise your hands. Your Lord hears you with a closeness that no distance or time can diminish.

If you hold power over others: treat every person with fairness — whether employee, servant, or stranger. The du’ā’ of the wronged follows the oppressor like a shadow.

Du’ā #3 · The Traveller
The Du’ā’ of the Traveller
دُعَاءُ الْمُسَافِر
One who journeys away from home — in a state of vulnerability, distance, and reliance on Allah — carries with them a du’ā’ that pierces the heavens. The traveller’s heart is softened by need.
Never Turned Away
دُعَاءُ الْمُسَافِرِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ
“The supplication of the traveller until he returns.”
✦ Wisdom & Reflection
Travel strips away comfort and familiarity, placing the believer in a state of tawakkul (reliance on Allah) that is hard to replicate at home. When you are far from what you know, you naturally turn to the only One who is everywhere. This state of need and humility is precisely why the traveller’s du’ā’ is so powerful. The entire journey — from departure to return — is a window of accepted prayer.
💡 How to Act on This
Whenever you travel — even a short trip — utilise your journey for du’ā’. In the car, on the plane, waiting at the station: ask Allah for your needs, for your family, for the ummah. And when loved ones travel, ask them to make du’ā’ for you — their supplication carries this special blessing until they return home.
