English Translation:

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and the oppression of men. Aamiin

This is a powerful and comprehensive prayer taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and it’s often recited to find emotional strength and peace during difficult times.

Here are several beautiful and powerful prayers (duas) from Islamic prayer that can help ease sadness, grief, and emotional distress:

1. Dua for Relief from Sadness and Anxiety

As mentioned earlier:

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow…

2. Dua of Yunus (AS) in the Belly of the Whale

This is a powerful dua for distress and sadness:

Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn
Translation:There is no god but You, Glory be to You! Truly, I have been among the wrongdoers.

This dua is mentioned in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:87) and is highly recommended during times of emotional hardship.

3. Dua for Strength and Patience

From Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286):

Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred…

This verse is a plea for mercy, strength, and protection from burdens too heavy to bear.

4. Dua for Healing and Comfort

From the Prophet Muhammad (SAW):

Allahumma ishfini shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman
Translation:O Allah, grant me healing that leaves no illness behind.

5. Dua for Inner Peace

O Allah, make me among Your patient servants, and fill my heart with tranquility and contentment.
