GAZA: Hundreds of tents in evacuation camps in various areas of Rafah and Mawasi Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip have been flooded due to heavy rains, the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported.
Residents who had to evacuate said their tents were blown away by strong winds, leaving them facing cold without protection.
The heavy rains that hit the entire Gaza strip added to the suffering of tens of thousands of locals whose homes were severely affected by the intensive bombardment.
The displaced are now facing very challenging conditions due to the cold and strong winds, as thousands of them live in tents made of nylon and thin cloth that provide little protection from rain and storms.
Those returning to northern Gaza are also struggling to set up and fortify their tents, in addition to facing a serious shortage of food supplies and heating materials.
Fuel shortages exacerbate the crisis, as many families do not acquire any means to warm themselves up due to low temperatures at night.
Here are a few ways you can support those affected by the floods in Gaza:
- Donate to Reputable Organizations: Organizations like UNRWA and Save the Children are actively working on the ground to provide essential supplies and services. Your donations can help provide food, clean water, medical care, and shelter.
- Raise Awareness: Share information about the situation on social media or within your community to raise awareness and encourage others to help.
- Volunteer: If you have the means and opportunity, consider volunteering with organizations that are providing aid. Even remote volunteering can make a difference.
- Advocate: Contact your local representatives to advocate for increased humanitarian aid and support for Gaza.
“O Allah, grant peace and tranquility to the people of Palestine. Protect those who are suffering and provide shelter to those who have lost their homes. Unite the hearts of humanity to offer support and hope to this land. Aamiin.”
